Today

If today is nae
and that be my day
I will take it as it nears
As I know of a better dear

If yesterday was to repeat
And I had to do it a feat
Then I would do it the same
For I have no one to blame

Today is what I have
Yesterday I could have
but its gone in far yonder
And I should not wonder

Then I will live for today
And forgive for yesterday
Look forward to another day
With God all my days

Saturday 14th July 2018, Mzee Patrick T Njuguna exited, quietly and with no further ado. On that morning I woke up to a nervous stomach and ''drove'' like crazy wondering what it was that I had eaten the previous night that was causing this, the world was quiet no status updates from my family on Facebook, no messages on the family WhatsApp group, nothing just an uncomfortable quietness that was also disturbing, I woke up quite early for a weekend or maybe it was coz of the ''driving'' I will never know, all I know is that he was gone and no one told me I just knew. New Year New Beginnings Happy Birthday to me

This far Lord you have brought me and all I can say is THANK YOU.      Today I am quite a different person from that skinny inquisitive kid who wouldn't rest until I got all the answers.  Now I have learnt that some things are better not to know that the less you know the better you are. I have learnt the different fights to  take, those to leave and those to fight on another day. I  have learnt that we don't have to agree to be friends that even if you are my friend you have your own opinion.  I have also learnt that there are friends for different reasons and just because they did not visit you at the hospital when you were sick it does not mean that they do not care or that they love you less.  I have learnt that I need to be independent strong and self sufficient but I also sometimes need guidance and being led by the hand.  It has been a long journey and the horizon is still far but thus far I have learnt a lot of life skills...
